The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crowell looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Blake thows a body kick. Crowell tries to catch it but that hurt him.

and Crowell counters with a single leg into guard. Blake didn't expect that.

Blake has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Crowell is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Blake.
Crowell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blake keeps working.

Crowell is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Blake will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Blake is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Blake wants to get back to his feet but Crowell drags him back down.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Blake shoots in but Crowell avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Crowell counters with a nice double leg into side control. Blake won't be happy with that.

Crowell pushes Blake up against the cage in a clinch.

Blake had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Crowell is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Blake Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Crowell's back instead.
Blake is trying to stick to Crowell's back but Crowell is turning into Blake. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Blake's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Crowell.

Crowell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Blake does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
