PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Odis Hancock (ranked 25282 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geoff Henrichs (ranked 5256 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Odis Hancock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Geoff Henrichs!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Franklyn Lucas and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Henrichs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hancock throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Henrichs decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Henrichs shoots in and gets a takedown into Hancock's guard.
Henrichs in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Henrichs trying to control but Hancock is working from the bottom.
Henrichs won't allow Hancock to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Henrichs passes Hancock's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Henrichs thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hancock flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Henrichs is keen to just control but Hancock is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Henrichs wants to pass the guard but Hancock is defending well.
Henrichs missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Hancock looking for submissions off his back.
Hancock missing with punches from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hancock changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Henrichs looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Henrichs throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Henrichs closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Henrichs is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Henrichs wants to control but Hancock is keeping him busy.
Henrichs throwing strikes but Hancock manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Henrichs is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Hancock stands up and beckons Henrichs to his feet.
Henrichs connects with a crisp jab.

Henrichs decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Henrichs seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hancock does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hancock flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Henrichs moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Hancock.
Hancock misses with a strike from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Henrichs is staying tight to Hancock's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Henrichs throws a strike aimed at the side of Hancock's head but Hancock avoids it well.

Henrichs goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hancock rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Henrichs's guard! Nice work there by Hancock!
Hancock wants to get up but he can't break Henrichs's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hancock stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Hancock throws a head kick but Henrichs moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geoff Henrichs dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Henrichs pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hancock throws a big counter combination but Henrichs scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Henrichs lands a big head kick that sends Hancock tumbling to the mat! Henrichs takes a step backwards and waves Hancock back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Hancock is rocked!


It looks like Odis Hancock has been cut.

Henrichs closes the distance and pushes Hancock back into the cage.
Oh Hancock is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Henrichs breaks the clinch.

Henrichs shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Hancock is on queer street and Henrichs is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Geoff Henrichs!
