Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Coleman. No joy for Silva on that attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Coleman as Silva shoots in.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Coleman which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Coleman tries for a takedown but Silva circles away easily

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown. Coleman fights it but they end up in guard.
Silva tries to stand but Coleman is controlling from the bottom.

Coleman is adopting a defensive guard.

Silva has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Coleman is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Coleman can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Coleman fails with the takedown

and Silva counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Coleman's guard now.

Silva gets to his feet - Coleman follows without any prompting.

Silva scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Coleman is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Coleman is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Silva stops Coleman from getting back to his feet.

Silva postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Coleman to stand up.
Silva looks to land a body kick but Coleman moved away.
Coleman throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Coleman which made him look bad.
Silva finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Coleman as he jumps to the side.
Coleman tries to land a front kick but Silva steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Coleman throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Silva.


It looks like Chris Silva has been cut.
Silva misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Coleman misses with the body kick
and Silva counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Coleman is lucky that one didn't land flush.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Coleman fails with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Silva dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Chris Silva's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Coleman stuffs the takedown.
Coleman throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Coleman misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Silva tries to clinch but Coleman is having none of it.

Coleman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Silva is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Coleman is controlling him.

Coleman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Coleman postures up.

Silva working for a triangle but Coleman defends it easily.

Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Coleman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Coleman wanted to stand there but Silva had control of the position.
Coleman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Coleman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Coleman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Coleman is trying to land a reversal but Silva doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle. Silva is tightening it up though! This could be trouble for Coleman! Coleman trying desperately to escape but he's gone limp! He's out! Wooooorld class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Silva!
