Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shaun Mcintosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Austin St John!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Roberts and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

St John throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mcintosh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. St John is in Mcintosh's guard.
St John tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcintosh is retaining full guard.
Mcintosh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

St John avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mcintosh keeping moving, preventing St John from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcintosh had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. St John defends it easily.

St John has gone for a leg lock! Mcintosh slips out almost immediately though and dives into St John's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mcintosh slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

St John has his foot on Mcintosh's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mcintosh works his way back into a safe position though.
St John is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
St John can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mcintosh controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

St John clinches up against the cage.
St John wants to break free but Mcintosh has control.
Mcintosh wants to get back to striking at distance but St John won't allow it.

St John escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mcintosh throws a head kick but St John moves out of range.

Mcintosh is looking for a triangle but St John pushes his legs off easily.

St John looking to sit in guard and control but Mcintosh gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mcintosh works over St John with some ground and pound from guard.
Mcintosh is standing up over St John. St John looks to escape but Mcintosh dives into side control.
Mcintosh controls the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
St John tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Mcintosh presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

That was a close round but I would say that Shaun Mcintosh will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Mcintosh.

St John closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

St John is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Mcintosh is pressing down on St John's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcintosh escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. St John gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mcintosh is looking to control St John's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mcintosh avoid being mounted?
Mcintosh gets back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as St John accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mcintosh is trying to hold St John in close to prevent damage but St John has managed to pass into half guard.

St John is nestled in close to Mcintosh, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Mcintosh is looking to improve his position.
St John is thwarting Mcintosh's attempts to control the position.
Mcintosh is pressing down on St John's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Mcintosh looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Mcintosh closes the distance and pushes St John back into the cage.

St John turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and St John manages to end up in side control.
Mcintosh gets back to half guard.
Mcintosh wants to improve his position but St John is controlling well.

Mcintosh is refusing to be controlled, as St John sits in half guard.

Mcintosh is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
St John stalling away here and it's allowed Mcintosh to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
St John takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mcintosh is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. St John is aware though and is defending well.
St John lands a couple of elbows.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
St John feints a jab promting Mcintosh to slip. St John then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mcintosh slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Mcintosh shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches St John napping and manages to drive through into side control!
You can see the frustration on St John's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

I would just about give that final round to Austin St John.
Well St John has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
