Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Brown (ranked 4936 p4p, 507 weight class) and Gabriel Arges (ranked 24167 p4p, 0 weight class). Gabriel Arges has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jesus Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Arges!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arges slaps away a takedown attempt from Brown, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Brown doesn't manage to clinch there - Arges circles away.

Brown has Arges up against the cage in a clinch.
Arges trying to stall but Brown improves his position.
Brown has Arges pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Arges manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Brown jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Arges walks away with a smile on his face. Brown gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesus Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brown displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Arges.
Brown is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Arges.
Brown misses with a takedown attempt - Arges sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Arges shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Brown counters with a three punch combo that has Arges backing up. Arges nods at Brown to acknowledge the strikes.
A chopping leg kick lands by Brown.
Arges misses with a takedown attempt - Brown sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Arges decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Brown is trying to escape back to his feet but Arges uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Arges is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Brown looking for a sweep but Arges has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Arges looking to control and managing it successfully.

Brown bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Brown postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Arges pulls Brown in close to his closed guard and prevents Brown from doing any damage or advancing position.
Brown will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Arges wants to sweep here but Brown controlling him for the moment.
Brown looking to sit in guard and control but Arges gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Arges engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Arges wants to pass the guard but Brown is keeping the position.
Arges stays in close to Brown's body and controls the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jesus Brown will probably get the nod.
That's time! Brown's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Brown scores with a one two! Arges had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Arges stuffs the takedown.

Arges shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Arges showed some decent athleticism there.
Arges uses his free foot to push down on Brown's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brown.
Brown gets back to half guard.
Arges is looking to advance position but Brown won't allow it.
Arges passes to full mount!

Arges wants to take Brown's back but he can't do it this time.
Arges sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Brown is looking to improve his position but Arges isn't that keen on the idea.
Arges takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Arges with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Brown is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Arges fails to advance to Brown's back.
Brown really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brown manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Arges not doing much here.
Arges frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Brown regains half guard.
Arges tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brown knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Arges content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Arges is continuing to stall.

Brown is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Arges asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Gabriel Arges showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Arges throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brown was covering up waiting for the punch and Arges finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Brown wants to control the position but Arges says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Arges perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Brown wants to control but Arges is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Arges tries to pass to full mount but Brown defends it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Arges in particular looking to stall.
Arges has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Arges pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Brown really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Arges is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Brown to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Brown shrugs it off.
Brown wants to control but Arges is having none of it.
Arges tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Brown doing his best to control the position. Can he escape?

Brown keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Brown wants to control but Arges is having none of it.
Brown has given up his back. Will we see Arges going for some submissions?
Arges controlling well, preventing Brown from escaping the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Arges is riding his opponent, not letting Brown buck him off.
Let's hope that Arges has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
