PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Crosby (ranked 23762 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frits Sprits (ranked 5315 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mike Crosby has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mike Crosby seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crosby drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sprits wants to stand and escape but Crosby is having none of it.
Crosby throws a strike but Sprits rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Crosby tries to strike from the bottom.
Sprits trying to control the position from guard on top but Crosby is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sprits looking to sit in guard and control but Crosby gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Crosby with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Crosby keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sprits's head.

Sprits has his feet on Crosby's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Crosby shoots in looking for a takedown but Sprits manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Crosby's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Crosby really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sprits got a little sloppy there for a moment and Crosby has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sprits has managed to get both his arms back between Crosby's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Crosby throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sprits throws a strike but Crosby rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Crosby is looking to work some ground and pound but Sprits has wrist control.

Sprits throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sprits is on top in guard.

Sprits gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

and Crosby decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sprits's guard.

A close round but Frits Sprits will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sprits tries to clinch but Crosby is having none of it.

Sprits drives through with a takedown into guard.

Crosby escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sprits gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sprits stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crosby swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sprits decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Sprits fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Crosby sprawls well initially but Sprits persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Crosby manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The fighters circle momentarily. Sprits darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Crosby fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sprits avoids it really well and circles away.
Sprits lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Sprits has managed to clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Crosby has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sprits after a bit of a struggle.

Sprits keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Sprits tries a head kick but it misses.
Crosby circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sprits slaps away a takedown attempt from Crosby, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sprits closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Crosby is trying to work for a sweep but Sprits has mounted him!
Sprits really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Crosby. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sprits misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

and Sprits counters with a left and a right... And another left! Crosby is down! He's done! The ref dives in to save him and that's the end of the fight!
