Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Gianni (ranked 5785 p4p, 565 weight class) and Curtis Choi (ranked 3369 p4p, 410 weight class). Curtis Choi told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ramon Gianni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Curtis Choi!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choi shoots and misses
and Gianni counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Choi stuffs the takedown.
A nice combination there by Gianni.

Choi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Choi showed some decent athleticism there.
Gianni won't allow Choi to pass to mount.
Gianni is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Choi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Choi prevents Gianni from improving his position.

Choi wants to pass to mount but Gianni is defending the position.
Gianni wants to improve his position but Choi is controlling well.
Gianni misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Choi uses his free foot to push down on Gianni's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gianni.
Gianni is trying desperately to improve position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Choi get's back to his feet.
Choi throws a head kick that misses.
Gianni tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Choi wants to counter the offense by Gianni and move into the clinch position.

Gianni rushes Choi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Gianni pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gianni connects with a solid leg kick.
Choi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Gianni misses with a takedown

and Choi counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ramon Gianni. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gianni looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Choi has picked Gianni up and slammed him! Gianni can't keep hold of the triangle and Choi manages to pass to side control!

Choi just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Choi is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Choi has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Gianni is in real trouble here. Choi gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Gianni is tapping out! Choi wins by rear naked choke!
