PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cyril Figis (ranked 4350 p4p, 317 weight class) and Sammy Gamjie (ranked 4778 p4p, 335 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Francis DeMontford and Chris Dean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gamjie misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gamjie swings for the body but Figis moves out of range.
Figis circles away from the clinch attempt
and Figis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Gamjie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Figis appears to be looking for a big counter.
Gamjie throws a series of punches but Figis avoids them all with ease.
Gamjie walks into a stiff left hand from Figis.
Figis moves into range and connects with a jab.
Figis pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Gamjie back to the cage. Figis follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Sammy Gamjie has been cut.

Gamjie throws a push kick but Figis slaps the foot to one side.
Figis lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Figis.

and Figis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Gamjie darts in and clinches Figis up against the cage.

Figis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Figis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Figis displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gamjie throws out the jab.
Sammy Gamjie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Figis on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Figis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Figis looks to land a combination but Gamjie avoids it well.

Figis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gamjie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Cyril Figis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sammy Gamjie.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Figis goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Gamjie is rocked!
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Figis moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Gamjie! Figis continues to tee off on Gamjie, landing with a left and a right! Figis connects with a right hand that leaves Gamjie sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Figis!
