Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ramon Cassel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Forrest Boyer!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyer throws a series of punches but Cassel moves out of range.
Cassel appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Boyer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cassel moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Cassel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Cassel takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boyer misses with a few strikes there.
Cassel drops down looking for a counter takedown but Boyer sprawls and moves away.

and Cassel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cassel.
Cassel won't allow Boyer to get back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boyer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boyer wants to sweep but no luck.
Boyer wants to stand and escape but Cassel is having none of it.
Cassel content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Boyer wants to stand but Cassel is controlling the position.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Cassel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Boyer is looking to sweep but instead, Cassel has passed into half guard.

Cassel is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Boyer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cassel.
Boyer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cassel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cassel is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Boyer pushes Cassel off looking to stand but Cassel dives back in and keeps control.
Cassel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Boyer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Boyer tries to kick Cassel off but Cassel keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Boyer wants to control but Cassel is keeping busy.

Boyer is pushing off trying to get to his feet. Cassel has hold of the leg though and he's dropped back for a heel hook… has he got it?? YES! Boyer is tapping! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Ramon Cassel!
Ramon Cassel bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
