Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Haigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Painter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kevin Painter will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Haigh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kevin Painter!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Haigh scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Haigh wants to pass to mount but Painter is defending the position.
Haigh thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Painter's head.
Haigh is controlling the pace.
Haigh working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Painter's thigh. Painter counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Painter has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Haigh is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Painter.

Haigh working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Painter is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Haigh controlling the position from side mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Haigh is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Painter can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Haigh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Haigh throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Painter stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Haigh feints and as Painter raises his hands in defense, Haigh changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Haigh is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Haigh wants to pass the guard but Painter is keeping the position.
Haigh controls from within his opponent's guard.
Haigh advances to half guard.
Painter is breathing heavily.

Haigh is controlling the pace.
Dan Haigh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Haigh takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Haigh seems to be looking for submissions.
Painter is trying to control but Haigh manages to pass to mount!

Haigh is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Painter is surviving well by controlling Haigh's body position as best he can.

Painter is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Dan Haigh just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Haigh shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Haigh shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Painter's guard.
Painter can't keep his opponent in guard - Haigh advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Painter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Haigh is working away from the top position though.

Haigh wants to free his trapped foot but Painter is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Painter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Haigh decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Painter gets caught flat footed, as Haigh shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Haigh is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Haigh stands and steps away. Painter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Haigh fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Painter sprawls well initially but Haigh persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Haigh works his foot free and advances to mount.
Painter is trying to reverse the position but instead Haigh has taken his back - oops!

Haigh slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Haigh scores with punches to the body.
Haigh is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Dan Haigh just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Haigh turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Haigh manages to end up in side control.
