PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greg Coleman (ranked 2285 p4p, 323 weight class) and Trent Punchy (ranked 2648 p4p, 366 weight class). Coleman comes into the arena with I Mother Earth - Not Quite Sonic blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trent Punchy!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman loads up on a big right hand but Punchy slips the punch.

Punchy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Punchy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Punchy postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Coleman regains half guard, as Punchy was trying to land strikes.
Punchy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Punchy is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Punchy throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Coleman pushes Punchy off looking to stand but Punchy dives back in and keeps control.
Punchy wants to free his trapped foot but Coleman is holding on for dear life with his legs.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Punchy shoots in looking for a takedown but Coleman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Punchy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That was a close round but I would say that Greg Coleman will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Punchy throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Coleman escapes and throws Punchy's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Punchy wants to clinch up but Coleman keeps it at a distance.
As Punchy backs away, Coleman returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

It seemed like Punchy was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Coleman lands with an uppercut that bounces Punchy off the cage and back into range.
Punchy lands with an overhand left.
Coleman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Punchy manages to avoid it.
Punchy throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Punchy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Coleman defends it nicely.
Punchy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Coleman throws out the jab.
Coleman jabs Punchy to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Punchy's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Coleman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Punchy scrambles back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I would just about give that final round to Trent Punchy.
I think Coleman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
