Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Galen Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marian looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Marian changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hicks tries to avoid it but Marian manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hicks to the ground. Hicks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Marian swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Hicks counter with a right hand.

and Hicks counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Hicks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hicks thows a huge punch but Marian dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marian is trying to get back to full guard.

Hicks is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Marian is just riding it out for now. Hicks eventually gives up the hold.

Hicks is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Marian defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hicks is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Marian is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hicks working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Marian wants to improve his position but Hicks is controlling well.

Hicks is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Marian is just riding it out for now. Hicks eventually gives up the hold.

Marian is looking for a sweep. Hicks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marian can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hicks is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Marian to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Marian shrugs it off.

Hicks is working for a guillotine from mount but Marian frees his head quite easily.

Marian is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Hicks lands a big shot there that rocks Marian but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Hicks jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Marian is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Marian and Hicks has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Marian is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hicks off and has taken his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marian scores with punches to the body.
Marian lands a shot to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Marian is striking from the back but Hicks escapes and manages to recover to half guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Marian moves into the clinch.
Marian is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Marian keeps control of Hicks as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Marian drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hicks gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Marian jumps into guard, dragging Hicks to the mat.

Hicks drops back, looking for a kneebar! Marian looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Marian looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Marian !

Marian is trying to ground and pound but Hicks uses the momentary lack of control by Marian to regain half guard.
Hicks is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Marian 's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Marian 's back!

Hicks is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Marian can do to turn this around?

Hicks is looking for the choke from the back position but Marian is controlling his hands well.

Hicks goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Marian escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Marian takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Marian with the ground and pound but Hicks uses the opportunity to regain guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Marian throws an elbow that misses. Hicks uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Marian 's guard. Nice move by Hicks!

Marian is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hicks cracks Marian with a solid left hand.
Marian looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hicks is one step ahead there.

Hicks postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Marian is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hicks, into his guard.

Marian stands up over Hicks, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Galen Hicks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marian content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Hicks has locked up a guillotine! Hicks's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Marian is holding on here and Hicks must be using up a lot of energy. Marian has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Hicks gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
