Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edward Alvarado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Matthew !
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarado throws a nice looking combination but Matthew bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Alvarado drives through and clinches with Matthew against the cage.
Alvarado stops a takedown attempt from Matthew .
Alvarado wants to get back to striking at distance but Matthew won't allow it.
Alvarado stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Alvarado has hold of one of Matthew 's legs. Matthew is fighting the takedown attempt but Alvarado gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Alvarado might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Alvarado postures up in Matthew 's guard and throws a big left but Matthew blocks it.
Alvarado throws an elbow that misses. Matthew uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Alvarado's guard. Nice move by Matthew !

Alvarado escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Matthew gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Matthew really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alvarado. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Alvarado wants to stand but Matthew is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Matthew sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Matthew stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alvarado swivels though and keeps the full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Alvarado wants to stand but Matthew is controlling the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Alvarado keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
As Matthew looks to move away, Alvarado throws a big counter combo but Matthew just gets out of the way.

Matthew wants to clinch but Alvarado slips to the side
and Alvarado counters with a left and a right that stings Matthew .
Matthew wants to clinch up but Alvarado keeps it at a distance.
Alvarado tries to counter by clinching up but Matthew breaks away and moves out of range.
Alvarado throws a sloppy body shot
and Matthew counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Matthew shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Alvarado counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Edward Alvarado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Matthew .
Alvarado is breathing heavily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Alvarado gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Alvarado decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Matthew , up you get!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edward Alvarado dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Matthew moves in looking to clinch but Alvarado pushes him off.
Alvarado has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Matthew shoots in but no luck this time.
Alvarado is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Matthew .

Matthew is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Matthew moves in looking to clinch but Alvarado pushes him off.
Matthew scores with a hook to the body. Alvarado takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Matthew closes the distance and clinches up with Alvarado, looking for a takedown. Matthew pushes Alvarado against the cage but Alvarado circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Matthew fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Alvarado has picked Matthew up - he's going for a ride! Alvarado dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Alvarado is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Matthew can do to turn this around?

Matthew misses with a takedown attempt

and Alvarado counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Alvarado.

Alvarado tightens his grip and picks Matthew up, before dumping him to the ground. Matthew manages to land in guard.

Alvarado bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Matthew 's guard.

Edward Alvarado overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Matthew looking to hit a scissor sweep but Alvarado is one step ahead there.

Alvarado postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Alvarado cracks Matthew with a solid left hand.
Alvarado with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Matthew working a defensive guard but Alvarado manages to pass into side control anyway.
Matthew takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Alvarado cracks Matthew with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Alvarado immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Matthew is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Alvarado!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Edward Alvarado!
