Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Taylor Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve McMichael!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McMichael tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

McMichael shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Castro is on top in guard.

Castro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Castro will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

McMichael feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Castro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McMichael is controlling him.

Castro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McMichael defends it easily.

Castro has his foot on McMichael's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McMichael works his way back into a safe position though.
McMichael wants to control from the top but Castro keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Castro wants to clinch.

McMichael gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Castro can't get the takedown.
Castro tries to score a body lock takedown but McMichael shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Castro decides to pull guard.
McMichael trying to control the position from guard on top but Castro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McMichael looking to sit in guard and control but Castro gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Castro keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McMichael's head.
McMichael working a defensive guard but Castro manages to pass into side control anyway.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Castro is looking to take a break and control but McMichael is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McMichael manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taylor Castro dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


McMichael throws a good cross that connects.


It looks like Taylor Castro has been cut.
McMichael throws a head kick that misses.
Castro appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

McMichael closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Castro to the mat! Castro manages to get full guard.


Castro is rocked!
McMichael has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Castro is proving hard to escape from.
Oh Castro is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
McMichael sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Castro's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McMichael takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

McMichael seems to be working for a kimura but Castro defends the submission attempt.
McMichael is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
McMichael missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Castro is looking for a sweep. McMichael is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Castro is defending against the submission attempts here by McMichael.
McMichael winds up and cracks Castro with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

McMichael looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Castro pushes McMichael off but McMichael dives into side control.
Steve McMichael has got the better of the ground game so far.
McMichael creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Castro sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
McMichael is chipping away with strikes.

McMichael thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
McMichael throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
McMichael tries to stand but Castro is controlling his head.
McMichael is breathing heavily.
A big shot lands for McMichael! That's hurt Castro! Will he recover? McMichael fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve McMichael!
