Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Hodge (ranked 8466 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carol Michalak (ranked 5340 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gerry Hodge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carol Michalak!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michalak leaves Hodge with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hodge wants to clinch.
Hodge tries to clinch but Michalak moves out of range.

Michalak moves into range and clinches up with Hodge.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hodge tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Michalak just stands there and leans against the cage.
Hodge is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Michalak to keep the fight standing.

Michalak tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hodge paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Michalak just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromHodge.

Michalak closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hodge to the mat! Hodge manages to get full guard.

Hodge is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Michalak presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hodge stays in close to Michalak's body and controls the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hodge shoots in and bounces Michalak off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hodge enables Michalak to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hodge manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hodge lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Michalak is nestled in close to Hodge, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hodge tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Michalak keeps the fight on the outside.

Michalak darts in and clinches Hodge up against the cage.
Michalak is trying to maintain a safe position but Hodge gets an underhook and turns Michalak into the cage.
Michalak makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Hodge on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Michalak misses with a knee strike.

Hodge looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Michalak with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

I would just about give that final round to Carol Michalak.
