The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Augustus forces Payne back against the cage and clinches.
Payne misses with a punch to the body.
Payne swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Augustus is looking for a takedown.
Payne misses with a punch on the inside.
A hook to the body from Payne.
Augustus tries for a takedown but Payne manages to get underhooks.
Augustus blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Payne lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Payne escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Payne slips a straight right by Augustus .
A little jabbing left from Payne on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Augustus looking to score a takedown here. Payne is defending well but Augustus drives through and ends up in Payne's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Payne can do anything to dispel that myth.
Augustus wants to control from the top but Payne keeps moving.
Augustus wants to pass the guard but Payne is keeping the position.
Payne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Augustus . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Payne wants to stand and escape but Augustus is having none of it.

Augustus wants to control from the top but Payne keeps moving.
Augustus throws a big elbow that misses.

Augustus drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Payne manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Augustus has Payne in his guard.

Payne would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Augustus wants to sweep but no luck.
Augustus keeping moving, preventing Payne from controlling successfully.
Augustus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Augustus is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Payne defends well.
