Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maximo Ruiz (ranked 25146 p4p, 0 weight class) and Itof Mayachev (ranked 4584 p4p, 0 weight class). Itof Mayachev will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruiz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mayachev to the mat! Mayachev manages to get full guard.
Mayachev wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ruiz manages to pass to side control.

Mayachev has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruiz is working away from the top position though.
Mayachev is trying to stand back up but Ruiz is controlling him
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ruiz slows the pace down in half guard.

Ruiz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mayachev sees it coming and defends easily.
Ruiz could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Ruiz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mayachev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ruiz.
Mayachev is concentrating on defense, preventing Ruiz from advancing position.
Ruiz passes into side control, despite Mayachev's attempt to control the position.

Mayachev is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Ruiz is staying active.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ruiz landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Mayachev tries to control but Ruiz manages to take his back.
Ruiz keeps control of the position as Mayachev tries to break free.

Ruiz sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Mayachev taps out!
