PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlton Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by Wild Boyz. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlton Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Diaz blocks a head kick by Silva.
Diaz tries for a takedown but Silva sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Silva will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Silva lands a nice leg kick that just misses Diaz's sensitive parts.
Silva wants to clinch up but Diaz keeps it at a distance.
Diaz misses with a body kick.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Diaz trying to control from half guard but Silva is working away.
Silva moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Diaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Silva is looking to stand up but Diaz isn't so interested in that idea.
Silva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Diaz is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Silva tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Diaz.

Silva decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Diaz looks gassed!
Silva throws a leg kick but Diaz checks it.
Silva wants to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Silva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Diaz circles away quickly and effectively.
Diaz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Silva doesn't seem bothered though.
Frank Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva thumps Diaz with a low kick.
Carlton Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Silva cracks the inside of Diaz's front leg.
Silva paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.


It looks like Frank Diaz has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Silva lands a big uppercut and Diaz crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Diaz looks OK. Silva waves Diaz back to his feet!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Diaz checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Silva moves in looking to clinch but Diaz pushes him off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Silva moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Good work by Diaz as he checks the leg kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva tries to clinch there but Diaz circles away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Silva, right into the meat.
Silva wants to clinch.
Carlton Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Silva is looking to clinch but Diaz is avoiding it.
Silva fails in his attempt to clinch.
Silva catches Diaz napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Diaz to the canvas!


Diaz is rocked!
Diaz is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Silva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Diaz is still on wobbly legs! Can Silva finish him?
The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Diaz seems to have recovered his senses.

A bone on bone clash there as Diaz blocks the leg kick.
Look low, kick high! Silva uses the oldest trick in the book to send Diaz tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Silva is absolutely delighted - when Diaz wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
