Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hits Hard (ranked 3459 p4p, 330 weight class) and Hugh Mongus (ranked 3328 p4p, 312 weight class). Hugh Mongus will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mongus moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Hard clinches.

Hard looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A frustrated look appears on Mongus's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mongus tries to pull guard but Hard forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Mongus tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hard smiles and moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hard gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mongus has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mongus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hard missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mongus wants to stand and escape but Hard is having none of it.
Mongus throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Hard wants to control from the top but Mongus keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mongus has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mongus moves out of range of the body kick from Hard.
Hard throws a right hand that Mongus ducks under and follows up with a left that Mongus also avoids with ease.
A punch combination from Hard misses.
Hard throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Mongus closes the distance and pushes Hard back into the cage.
Mongus has Hard pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hard manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hits Hard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugh Mongus.

Mongus breaks the clinch.
Mongus scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Mongus wants to land a leg kick but Hard is out of range.
Hard throws a head kick but Mongus moves out of range.
Mongus takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Mongus is trying to pull guard but Hard has him pressed against the cage.

Mongus is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hard pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Mongus fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Mongus tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hard is looking to break free of the clinch but Mongus has double underhooks.

Hard jumps into guard, dragging Mongus to the mat.

That was a close round but I would say that Hits Hard will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hard lands a big head kick that sends Mongus tumbling to the mat! Hard takes a step backwards and waves Mongus back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Mongus avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mongus steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Hard throws a front kick that sends Mongus stumbling back into the cage.
Hard fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mongus is out of range.

Mongus unleashes a big counter combination but Hard bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Hard is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mongus can do to turn this around?

and Mongus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mongus raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Hard rushes Mongus and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Mongus misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Mongus jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hard walks away with a smile on his face. Mongus gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Hard moves into the clinch successfully.
Mongus tries to score a body lock takedown but Hard shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Mongus is breathing heavily.
Mongus jumps guard but Hard stands there with Mongus around his waist. Mongus gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hits Hard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugh Mongus.

Hard throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Mongus escapes and throws Hard's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Hard is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mongus off and has taken his back!

You can see the frustration on Mongus's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Hard doesn't have the hooks in and Mongus manages to turn into his guard.

Hard has his foot on Mongus's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mongus works his way back into a safe position though.

Mongus shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hard napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Hard is looking to regain half guard here but Mongus keeps moving and retains side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mongus is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hard's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hard is not content to let Mongus control the position.

Mongus gets to mount! Hard was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Mongus in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Mongus has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hard's face.
Mongus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
