Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Danny Craig!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Drane!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Craig slips a jab and a cross from Drane.
It looked like Craig was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Craig tries to keep at a distance but Drane has taken the fight into the clinch.
Craig is trying to break the clinch but Drane has him pressed against the cage.
Craig throws a head punch that misses.
Craig wants to get back to striking at distance but Drane won't allow it.
Drane tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Craig smiles and moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Craig as Drane shoots in.
Craig throws a counter high kick but Drane was just alert enough to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Drane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Craig circles away.
Craig tries to counter by clinching up but Drane breaks away and moves out of range.
Danny Craig has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Drane.

Drane gets a takedown into half guard.
Craig is concentrating on defense, preventing Drane from advancing position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drane is trying to control the action in half guard but Craig is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Craig tries to get to full guard but Drane has control of the leg.
Craig is controlling Drane's trapped leg to prevent Drane from advancing to side control.
Drane performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Craig has his hands clasped together around Drane's back. He's all about the action.
Drane prevents Craig from improving his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Craig preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Drane shoots in looking for a takedown. Craig tries to sprawl out of it but Drane keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Craig manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Craig throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Drane drives through with a takedown into guard.
Drane's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Craig has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Craig being controlled here, momentarily.
Craig wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Craig is pulling down on Drane's head to control his posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Drane has taken the fight to the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Craig tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Drane's elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Drane dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Drane throws a leg kick that is checked

so Craig counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Drane wriggles free and stands up.

Craig gets caught flat footed, as Drane shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drane stands up out of Craig's guard for a moment - Craig manages to land a nice upkick.
Craig has control of Drane's left arm, preventing Drane from doing any damage.
Drane must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Craig tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Craig pulls Drane in close to prevent any damage.
Drane won't allow Craig to sweep him here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Drane trying to control but Craig is working from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Drane shoots in and bounces Craig off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Craig has control of Drane's left arm, preventing Drane from doing any damage.

Craig continues to stall.
Craig is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Craig is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Drane looking to sit in guard and control but Craig gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Craig wanted to stand there but Drane had control of the position.

Drane had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Craig defends it easily.

Drane not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
John Drane has got the better of the ground game so far.

Craig decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Drane, up you get!

Drane moves into range and clinches up with Craig.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Craig is trying to force a seperation but Drane has the dominant position.
Craig has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Craig stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Drane tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Craig working hard to break the clinch.
Drane tries to land knees in the clinch but Craig avoids the damage to the body.
Drane jumps guard but Craig turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Drane is breathing heavily.
Drane tries to pull guard but Craig won't allow it.
Danny Craig has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Drane.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Drane fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Drane has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Knees in the clinch landing for Craig.
Drane takes a knee to the side of the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but John Drane will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Drane fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Craig.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Craig checks a leg kick.

Craig gets tackled into the cage by Drane. Drane maintains the clinch.

Craig breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Drane will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Drane moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Danny Craig has been cut.

Craig feints and as Drane raises his hands in defense, Craig changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Drane kicks Craig off and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Drane looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Craig!
Drane takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Craig gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Craig desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Craig trying to hold on to Drane's head to control him but Drane postures up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Craig manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Craig wants to sweep but no luck.
Drane wants to control from the top but Craig keeps moving.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Craig seems keen to control Drane's posture.
Craig is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Drane moves into the clinch.
Drane wants a takedown but no success here.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Craig.
Drane taking a breather.
Craig is trying to break the clinch but Drane is controlling him.
Craig wants to break the clinch but can't.

Craig escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Drane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Drane winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
