The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Thompson misses.
Jet Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Thompson throws the left hand but Nutz avoids the punch easily.
Nutz shoots in for a takedown but Thompson shows good takedown defense.
Thompson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nutz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Thompson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Nutz's head backwards.
Thompson throws a right and a left that Nutz avoids nicely.
Thompson lands a slapping body shot.
Nutz fails with the takedown.
Thompson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Thompson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Nutz's head backwards.

Thompson throws out a loose jab but Nutz uses good head movement to avoid it.

Nutz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Thompson.
Nutz moves forwards but Thompson connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Nutz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Thompson circles away.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Nutz. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Nutz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Nutz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Thompson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thompson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Nutz is looking to sinch up a triangle. Thompson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Nutz's body to avoid the submission. Nutz has instead reached around Thompson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Nutz arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
