The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romano ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Guthrie clinches.

Guthrie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Romano uses from the top position.
Guthrie is looking to stand up but Romano isn't so interested in that idea.

Romano throws a strike but Guthrie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Guthrie gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Romano throws a series of punches but Guthrie avoids them all with ease.
Guthrie seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
A punch combination from Romano misses.
Romano scores with a sloppy right hand. Guthrie should have avoided that one.
Romano misses with a low kick.
Sticker Romano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Romano throws a nice looking combination but Guthrie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Guthrie tries to keep at a distance but Romano has taken the fight into the clinch.
Romano is pressed up against the cage. Guthrie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Romano down to the mat. Romano avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Guthrie takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Manual Guthrie has been cut.
Romano lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Guthrie goes down and covers up as Romano starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
