Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Scott Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greig Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Richards could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Greig Smith's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Richards tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Richards to the ground. Richards escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Richards is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Richards throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.
Smith blocks a jab.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smith scores with a sloppy right hand. Richards should have avoided that one.
Smith ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Richards stuffs the takedown attempt from Smith. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Smith tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Richards counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.
Richards throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Richards wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on Smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Richards thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Smith manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Smith is trying to control but can't.
Smith tries to get to full guard but Richards has control of the leg.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Richards throws a jab when Smith was well out of range.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smith drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Richards gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Scott Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greig Smith.
Smith wants a takedown but no success here.

Smith gets control of Richards's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smith will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Smith working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Richards has passed into half guard!
The fighters are battling for position here. Smith manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Smith can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Richards controls the pace.
Richards lands a couple of elbows.
Richards knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Richards has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Richards can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close round but I would say that Scott Richards will probably get the nod.

and Richards counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Richards.
Smith controls Richards momentarily but Richards frees himself.

Smith is looking for a triangle but Richards pushes his legs off easily.
Smith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Richards wants to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Richards trying to hold on to Smith's head to control him but Smith postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Smith wants to take a breather but Richards is having none of it.
Richards has a hand on Smith's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Smith takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Smith with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Smith is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Smith extends the arm and Richards is forced to tap!
