Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Well Young!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ron Honeybunn and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Young closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Abbott kicks Young off and gets back to his feet.
Well Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Young throws a lazy head kick

and Abbott moves into the clinch.
Young has had enough of the clinch but Abbott keeps him there for the moment.
Abbott has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Young escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Young throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Abbott tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Young is in Abbott's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Young is looking to pass into half guard but Abbott pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Abbott is in guard.

Young is striking from the bottom but Abbott uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Young is looking for a sweep. Abbott is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Young can do anything to dispel that myth.

Young has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Abbott is working away from the top position though.

Young is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Abbott pulls his head out easily.

Abbott is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Young doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Abbott.
Young is looking for a sweep. Abbott is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Abbott wants to take a breather but Young is having none of it.
Young wants to get back to full guard.

Abbott is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Young sees it coming and defends easily.
Abbott seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Young wants to improve his position but Abbott is controlling well.
Young trying to hold on to Abbott's head to control him but Abbott postures up.

Abbott is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Abbott is working for a kimura but Young is defending it quite comfortably.
Young is looking to control Abbott's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Young avoid being mounted?
Still in half guard, Abbott seems content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Young trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Abbott manages to pass to mount!

Abbott jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Young manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Abbott is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Young is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Abbott tries for a kimura but Young is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riley Abbott dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Young gets caught napping as Abbott dives in and scores a takedown. Young manages to retain guard.

Riley Abbott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Young is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Abbott drops back looking for a leg! Young is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Young manages to kick Abbott off! Abbott jumps back into Young's guard.

Young wants to control the position but Abbott says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Young is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Abbott jumps into side control!
Abbott prevents Young from escaping the position.
Young tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Abbott wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Abbott is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Young is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Young tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Abbott is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Abbott is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Young can do to turn this around?

Abbott has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Young is defending well but eventually Abbott manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Young has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
