PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Moses Makwame (ranked 6538 p4p, 384 weight class) and Yasunori Sakai (ranked 25270 p4p, 440 weight class). Makwame comes to the cage accompanied by House of Pain - Jump Around. Moses Makwame has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Moses Makwame!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yasunori Sakai!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Makwame!
Makwame throws a quick inside leg kick.
A punch lands to the side of Sakai 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Sakai doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Makwame counter with a right hand.

Makwame gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Makwame is on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Makwame stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sakai swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And Sakai responds with a good body kick, but Makwame manages to step out the way in time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sakai is looking to take a break and control but Makwame is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Moses Makwame is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Sakai prevents Makwame from improving his position.

Sakai is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Makwame is just riding it out for now. Sakai eventually gives up the hold.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Makwame, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
