The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abu drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sarney is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Abu has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Sarney tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Abu is trying to get an arm triangle but Sarney is defending well.
Abu advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sarney tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sarney knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abu on the ground.
Abu has control of Sarney's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sarney regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Abu looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sarney is looking to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abu working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Sarney turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Abu off and cradles Sarney's limp body as Abu celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Wiley Abu!
