PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wilner Fatiman (ranked 1978 p4p, 184 weight class) and Christian Cyborg (ranked 2350 p4p, 206 weight class). Fatiman comes to the cage accompanied by Zion Train. Christian Cyborg struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Christian Cyborg!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Topper Green and Francis DeMontford.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fatiman goes for a double leg but Cyborg avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cyborg continues to drive forward.
Wilner Fatiman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cyborg throws a shot to the body.

Fatiman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cyborg napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Fatiman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cyborg knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Fatiman is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cyborg's shoulder. That is not cool.

Cyborg has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fatiman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Fatiman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Cyborg is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

We've been hearing that Fatiman has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Fatiman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cyborg has escaped the position, nice work there.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Fatiman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cyborg is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fatiman is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Cyborg wants to control but Fatiman postures up.
Fatiman content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Fatiman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Cyborg gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cyborg gets back to full guard.
Fatiman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cyborg's guard.
Fatiman is keen to just control but Cyborg is a slippery customer.
Cyborg wants to improve his position but Fatiman is controlling well.

Fatiman seems to be working for a kimura but Cyborg defends the submission attempt.

Cyborg is looking for a sweep. Fatiman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fatiman is trying to control the action in half guard but Cyborg is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Cyborg wants to control but Fatiman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Fatiman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Nice sprawl there from Cyborg as Fatiman shoots in.
Fatiman shoots in for a takedown but Cyborg shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cyborg fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Cyborg leaves Fatiman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cyborg is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Fatiman with a body shot.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wilner Fatiman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cyborg tries to clinch but Fatiman moves out of range.
Fatiman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cyborg tries to avoid it but Fatiman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cyborg to the ground. Cyborg escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cyborg throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fatiman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Cyborg counters with a stiff right hand.
Fatiman darts in looking for a takedown but Cyborg gets double underhooks and turns Fatiman into the cage.
Cyborg throws a series of strikes that have Fatiman backpedaling.

It looks like Wilner Fatiman has been cut.
Cyborg goes for a small jab and connects. Now Cyborg goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Fatiman stumbles back but Cyborg runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Fatiman to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Fatiman will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Christian Cyborg!
After the fight, Christian Cyborg was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
