Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Blitz (ranked 2949 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Heart (ranked 2316 p4p, 0 weight class). Heart has chosen Eric Church - Record Year as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Peter Heart has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Blitz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Heart!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heart will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Blitz takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Heart has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Blitz is landing a low percentage of strikes.
A jab lands there for Heart.
We've been hearing reports that Blitz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Blitz tries to clinch
and Heart counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Heart connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Blitz's hands.
Heart's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Heart duly obliges.
A punch combination from Heart misses.
As Heart tries to get set, Blitz tries to push him back and clinch up but Heart manages to avoid the attempt.
Blitz is looking to clinch.
Heart throws a body punch but Blitz moves out of range.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Heart slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Blitz is looking to clinch but Heart is avoiding it.
Heart swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Blitz slips a straight right by Heart.

Blitz shoots in for a takedown but Heart shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Blitz throws the kick towards the body but Heart avoids it.
Peter Heart is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Heart misses with an uppercut.
Blitz on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Heart moves out of range of the strikes.
Heart swings for the body but Blitz moves out of range.
Nice defenses there by Blitz.
Heart lands the left hand.
Blitz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Heart tests Blitz's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Heart gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Blitz to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Heart looking to hit a scissor sweep but Blitz is one step ahead there.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Blitz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blitz wants to control from the top but Heart keeps moving.

Heart is controlling Blitz's posture.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Blitz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Heart.
Blitz has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Blitz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blitz has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Blitz there as he acknowledges the shot.
Blitz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Heart lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Heart lands with a shot to the body.

Heart swats away the attempt to clinch by Blitz.
Blitz is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Blitz darts in and clinches Heart up against the cage.
Heart blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Blitz is looking to control Heart's arms but Heart gets an underhook and turns him. Now Blitz has his back to the cage.
Heart gets underhooks to prevent Blitz's takedown attempt.

Blitz jumps guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Heart loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Heart chips away with some ground and pound.
Heart is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Heart scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Blitz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Heart won't allow Blitz to sweep him here.
Blitz can't keep his opponent in guard - Heart advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Heart dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Heart keeps the fight on the outside.
Heart lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Blitz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Heart is fending him off so far but Blitz persists. Nope, Heart circles away and we're back to standing.
Blitz shoots in and drives through. Heart sprawls well.
Heart swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Blitz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Heart swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Heart counters with a nice uppercut.


Blitz is rocked!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Blitz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Heart lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Oh Blitz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Heart throws a body shot but no joy.
Blitz takes one to the chin there.
Blitz wants to clinch
and Heart counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Peter Heart seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Blitz tries to clinch up but Heart circles away and keeps his distance.
Heart throws out a counter right but Blitz avoids it with no problem.
Blitz seems to have got his legs back now.
Blitz uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Heart.
Blitz looking to land some kicks to the body here.
A big left from Heart misses.
Blitz walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Horrible takedown attempt by Blitz or perhaps it was just good defense by Heart, which made it look bad.
Blitz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Heart avoids it really well and circles away.
Heart connects with a looping right hand.

Heart slaps away a takedown attempt from Blitz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Heart has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Blitz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Heart counters by clinching up.

Blitz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Blitz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Heart defends well and Blitz ends up having to push Heart into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Heart uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

and Heart counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Blitz takes a jab right on the kisser.
Peter Heart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blitz walks into a straight right hand from Heart.
Decent striking displayed by Heart there.
Blitz avoids a punch combination nicely.

Blitz shoots in for a takedown but Heart shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Heart counters with a straight right hand.
Blitz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Heart as he jumps to the side.
Heart lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Blitz circles away quickly and effectively.
Heart scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Blitz doesn't seem bothered though.
Heart misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Blitz walks into a stiff left hand from Heart.
Blitz ducks right into an uppercut from Heart.
Heart fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blitz manages to avoid it.
Heart throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Blitz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Heart scores with the left hand. Blitz knows he should have avoided that one.
Blitz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Heart.
Nice uppercut there from Heart.
Heart throws out a powerful jab.
Heart lands a jab-cross combination.
John Blitz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Some wild striking there from Heart.
Blitz feinted with a counter takedown.
Heart swings for the body but Blitz moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Heart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Blitz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Heart but Heart pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Heart throws a nice looking combination but Blitz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Heart throws a hook to the side of Blitz's head but Blitz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Heart throws a jab when Blitz was well out of range.
Heart smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Heart tests Blitz's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Heart missing with a left hand there. Blitz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Blitz ducks under a wild hook from Heart.
Blitz throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Heart connects with a jab.
Heart scores with a decent looking hook.
Nice uppercut there from Heart.
Heart misses the jab.
Heart pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Blitz takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Blitz's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Heart connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Blitz scrambles back to his feet.
Blitz takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Heart might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Nice defenses there by Blitz.
Blitz shoots in for a double leg but Heart sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Blitz doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Heart connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Blitz looks up at the clock. Bad move! Heart lands a right hand from hell, dropping Blitz. Heart pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Heart!
Peter Heart decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
John Blitz was interviewed post fight and said 'Have to train my wrestling'.
