Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nicolas Blankenship (ranked 24832 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Wagner (ranked 24830 p4p, 0 weight class). Wagner is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer. Jack Wagner has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Wagner!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wagner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blankenship moves away.
Blankenship lands a slapping body shot.

Wagner scores with a takedown into Blankenship's guard.

Blankenship has his feet on Wagner's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Blankenship jabs Wagner to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Blankenship scores with a jab. Wagner acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wagner can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A control attempt from Wagner but he's now mounted!

Blankenship is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Wagner is surviving well by controlling Blankenship's body position as best he can.
Blankenship really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wagner bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Wagner not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Wagner drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Blankenship manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Wagner has Blankenship in his guard.

Wagner is pulling down on Blankenship's head. It's preventing any offense from Blankenship, at least for the moment.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Blankenship's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Blankenship will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wagner looking for a sweep. Not yet Wagner, not yet.
Blankenship is pushing down on Wagner's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wagner is fighting to maintain full guard but Blankenship has managed to sneak the leg through.
Wagner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Blankenship is working away from the top position though.
Wagner holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jack Wagner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blankenship clobbers Wagner with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Wagner wants to clinch up but Blankenship keeps it at a distance.
Blankenship seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Wagner tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Blankenship changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Nice uppercut lands for Blankenship. That snapped Wagner's head back.

Blankenship wants to get back to his feet but Wagner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fight stays on the outside here - Blankenship looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Wagner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wagner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Blankenship throws Wagner to one side and escapes!
Blankenship is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wagner can do to turn this around?

The fighters are working up against the cage. Blankenship manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Wagner wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Blankenship has him pressed against the cage.

Wagner has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Blankenship clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Wagner has his opponent's back but Blankenship is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Wagner.

Wagner closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Blankenship's guard.

Wagner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Blankenship connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Wagner throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Blankenship drops down looking for a counter takedown but Wagner sprawls and moves away.

Wagner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Blankenship on his heels. He'll look to pass Blankenship's guard now, I'm sure.

Blankenship fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Blankenship lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Wagner decides to stand up, so the ref orders Blankenship to his feet.

Wagner changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blankenship looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Blankenship bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Blankenship comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Wagner on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Wagner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Blankenship is trying to stand back up but Wagner is controlling him
Wagner wants to take a breather but Blankenship is having none of it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wagner is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Wagner is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Blankenship sees it coming and defends easily.
Blankenship is not content to let Wagner control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Blankenship works his way to full guard. Good work.

Blankenship pushes Wagner off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Blankenship darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Blankenship, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
