Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Collier (ranked 5740 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sisto Averno (ranked 6728 p4p, 0 weight class). And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sisto Averno!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Averno avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Averno is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Collier's half guard.
Collier moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Collier is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Averno presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Averno is looking to break free of the clinch but Collier has double underhooks.

Averno swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Collier looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Collier tries to close the distance and clinch but Averno swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Averno misses with a series of wild punches.
Collier throws a big counter combination but Averno scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Collier tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Collier misses with a few strikes there.

Collier shoots for a double leg takedown but Averno sprawls well. He's pushed Collier's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Collier pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Averno misses.

and Averno counters with a straight right hand.
Averno looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Averno shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Collier's guard.

Collier is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Collier fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Averno tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Collier avoids it.

Averno tightens his grip and picks Collier up, before dumping him to the ground. Collier manages to land in guard.
Collier seems keen to control Averno's posture.
Collier's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Collier manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Averno manages to get himself to full guard.


Collier drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Collier jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Collier seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Collier stands up from Averno's guard - Collier perhaps looking for a knockout.

Averno throws a sloppy head kick and Collier moves out of range easily.

Collier pulls Averno in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Averno looking to sit in guard and control but Collier gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Nelson Collier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Averno is breathing heavily.
Collier postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Collier controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Averno has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Collier is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Averno.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Collier scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Averno to see if he's OK.
Averno is not content to let Collier control the position.

Collier in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Averno is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
