Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Demetrius Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bernardo Dimatulac!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dimatulac closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Valdez to the mat! Valdez manages to get full guard.
Dimatulac works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Dimatulac not doing much here.

Valdez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dimatulac pulls his head out easily.
Valdez wants to improve his position but Dimatulac is controlling well.
Valdez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Dimatulac working over Valdez with some ground and pound. Valdez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dimatulac is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Dimatulac has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dimatulac seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Valdez with the active half guard here but Dimatulac passes nicely into side control.
A lull in the action here.
Valdez is looking for a sweep.
Dimatulac lands a decent elbow from side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
You can see the frustration on Valdez's face as Dimatulac controls the position.
Valdez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dimatulac wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Dimatulac slows the pace down.

Dimatulac has hold of Valdez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Valdez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Dimatulac cranks the arm and Valdez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Valdez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
