Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
champion circles away from the clinch attempt.

Abott gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Abott is trying to control the position but champion postures up.
champion working some strikes from top position.
champion won't allow Abott to sweep him here.

Abott looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
champion missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
champion passes Abott's left leg - he's now in half guard.
champion controlling the pace.

Abott tries to kick champion off but champion keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
champion with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Abott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
champion works his foot free and advances to mount.
champion controlling the pace for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
champion's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

champion avoids the attempt from Abott to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abott is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
champion controlling the position easily from mount.
Abott knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for champion on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
BOOM! champion connects with a massive shot to the dome!
champion sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
champion with shots to the head and body - Abott looks very uncomfortable down there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


Abott throws a series of punches but champion moves out of range.
Abott throws an overhand right that lands on champion's shoulder, as champion tries to avoid the shot.
Abott shoots and misses

and champion counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by champion.

champion has gone for a leg lock! Abott slips out almost immediately though and dives into champion's guard.

champion has his foot on Abott's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Abott works his way back into a safe position though.

champion looking for a guillotine here but Abott defends easily.
champion tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

champion lands a good elbow from the bottom.
champion is trying to hold Abott in close to prevent damage but Abott has managed to pass into half guard.

champion kicks Abott off and gets back to his feet.

champion shoots in and bounces Abott off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
champion lands a couple of digs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
champion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
champion with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
champion showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Abott looking to control.
champion pushes down on Abott's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Still in half guard, champion seems content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

champion seems to be working for a kimura but Abott defends the submission attempt.
champion content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Despite being in the dominant position, dan champion just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
champion misses with a leg kick.

champion shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Abott's guard.
champion controlling from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

dan champion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



champion closes the distance and clinches.

champion turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
champion is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The referee asks champion politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. champion prefers to stall for the moment though.
Abott wants to control but champion postures up.
champion is staying tight to Abott's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Abott is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, champion asserts his dominance and retains side control.
champion is working Abott over with some ground and pound from side control.
Abott is trying to buck champion off.
champion moves into full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
champion takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
champion is landing with some decent strikes but Abott is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

champion working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Abott looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by champion! Submission of the night perhaps?
