PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Victor Vazquez (ranked 3765 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Santos (ranked 4656 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that David Santos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vazquez throws a right and a left that both miss.
Vazquez moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Vazquez tries a head kick but it misses.
Santos looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Santos swings for the body but Vazquez moves out of range.
Santos throws a half hearted mid kick.
Vazquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Santos throws the kick towards the body but Vazquez avoids it.
A little feinted left hand from Vazquez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Santos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Good leg kick by Santos there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Santos has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Vazquez finds it's way round the side to connect with Santos's head.

Vazquez connects with a leg kick. Santos looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Santos.
Vazquez tries to bum rush Santos with a series of wild strikes but Santos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Santos now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Vazquez lands with a kick to the temple. Santos shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Santos takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Santos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vazquez circles away quickly and effectively.

Vazquez cracks Santos with a right hand to the side of the head.

Vazquez walks into a left hand.
Vazquez scores with a hook to the body. Santos takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Vazquez avoids a kick to the body.

and Vazquez counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Vazquez moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Nice uppercut there from Vazquez.
Vazquez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Santos throws a predictable looking body shot
and Vazquez counters with a three punch combo that has Santos backing up. Santos nods at Vazquez to acknowledge the strikes.

Santos has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Vazquez.
Santos is still on wobbly legs! Can Vazquez finish him?

Santos seems to have recovered his senses.

Santos's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Santos throws a right hand that Vazquez ducks under and follows up with a left that Vazquez also avoids with ease.

and Vazquez counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Vazquez is looking to slow Santos down with leg kicks.
Santos throws a nice looking combination but Vazquez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vazquez throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Vazquez scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Santos doesn't seem bothered though.
Santos ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vazquez moves away.

Vazquez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Santos stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Vazquez lands a big head kick that sends Santos tumbling to the mat! Vazquez takes a step backwards and waves Santos back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Santos takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Santos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Vazquez counters with a lovely shot to the body.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Vazquez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Oooooh!!! Vazquez has knocked Santos down with a huge combo! Vazquez steps away and waves a wobbly Santos back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vazquez circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Santos drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Vazquez follows Santos to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
