The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalkbrenner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rich bucks up and tries to throw Kalkbrenner off but instead Kalkbrenner has got his back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kalkbrenner is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rich has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Rich manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Kalkbrenner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rich tries to avoid it but Kalkbrenner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rich to the ground. Rich escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rich is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

and Rich counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kalkbrenner thinking.

Kalkbrenner can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rich is looking to escape.
Rich keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Rich tries to hold on but Kalkbrenner pushes him away.

Kalkbrenner is working for a guillotine from mount but Rich frees his head quite easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rich has given up his back.

Kalkbrenner has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Rich! Can he survive? No! He's out! Kalkbrenner gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
