Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Baker (ranked 3146 p4p, 419 weight class) and Alex Graves (ranked 1665 p4p, 203 weight class). Graves has chosen London Calling as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brian Baker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 27 - 0, fighting out of London, Alex Graves!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graves shoots in for a takedown but Baker shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Graves shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Baker pinned against the cage. Baker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Baker clinches with his opponent.
Graves has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Baker after a bit of a struggle.
Brian Baker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Graves.
Baker is pressed up against the cage. Graves has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Baker down to the mat. Baker avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nice sprawl there from Baker as Graves shoots in.
Baker throws a good cross that connects.
Graves looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Graves.
An attempted straight right counter from Baker misses the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baker throws a head kick that misses.
Baker misses with a looping left.
Graves ducks under a wild hook from Baker.
Graves dives in for a single leg takedown but Baker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Graves moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Graves is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Baker leaning against his opponent.
Baker tries to land knees in the clinch but Graves avoids the damage to the body.
Baker lands a shot to the body.
Graves looks winded!
Baker throws an elbow but it's blocked.
A short right from Baker on the inside.
Graves drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Baker gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Still in the clinch, Baker scores with a nice short uppercut.
Graves stalling in the clinch but Baker improves position.
Baker lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Graves blocks an elbow strike.
Graves drops down looking for an ankle pick but Baker pulls his leg out and moves away.

Baker gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Baker on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Graves has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Baker clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Baker is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Graves gets his way!
Baker breaks Graves's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Baker tries to stand but Graves is controlling from the bottom.
Baker preventing the sweep.
Baker trying to control but Graves is working from the bottom.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Graves working for a triangle but Baker defends it easily.

Baker gets to his feet. Graves looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Baker jabs Graves right on the nose. Graves blinks but takes it well.
Brian Baker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Baker clinches up against the cage.
Baker tries a knee to the head but Graves blocks it.
Graves drops down looking for an ankle pick but Baker pulls his leg out and moves away.
Baker connects with a nice looking jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Graves shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Baker pinned against the cage. Baker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The crowd cheers as Baker lands an impressive looking overhand right. Graves doesn't seem phased though.
Graves slips a jab and a cross from Baker.
Graves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Baker as he avoids it easily.
Graves takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Baker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Graves to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Graves prevents Baker from getting back to his feet.
Baker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Baker is trying to control. Graves wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Baker escapes and gets back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice body punch from Baker.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Baker throws out a powerful jab.

Baker closes the distance and clinches.
Graves has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Baker after a bit of a struggle.
Baker is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Baker manages to break the clinch.
Baker connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Graves shoots in looking for a takedown but Baker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Graves's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Baker moves into the clinch.
Baker lands a shoulder strike.
Baker scores with an uppercut up the middle.


Graves is rocked!
Baker unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Graves! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Baker is unloading with more strikes now! Graves drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brian Baker!
In defeat, Alex Graves stepped up to the mic, saying 'This isn't over. That was luck and we will be back to breaking arms and spirits very soon!'.
