PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Tanagul (ranked 23679 p4p, 654 weight class) and Reiner Brawn (ranked 23063 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Reiner Brawn was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Tanagul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Reiner Brawn!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Francis DeMontford and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brawn scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Joe Tanagul has been cut.
Brawn misses with a combination
letting Tanagul counter with a right hand.
Tanagul goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Oooooh!!! Brawn has knocked Tanagul down with a huge combo! Brawn steps away and waves a wobbly Tanagul back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Tanagul is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Brawn checks the leg kick.
Despite the aggression on Brawn's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Oh Tanagul is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tanagul misses with a hook.

Brawn fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Tanagul to the ground. Brawn is now in Tanagul's guard.
Brawn looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Brawn is looking to work some ground and pound but Tanagul has wrist control.
Tanagul seems to have got his legs back now.

Brawn gets to his feet. Tanagul looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Brawn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tanagul circles away quickly and effectively.
Tanagul attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Brawn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tanagul to the mat! Tanagul manages to get full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brawn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Brawn working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Brawn is staying tight to Tanagul's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Brawn in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Brawn has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Brawn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Brawn scores with a takedown into Tanagul's guard.
Tanagul is breathing heavily.
Brawn is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Brawn might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Tanagul avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Brawn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Tanagul can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brawn controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Brawn rushes Tanagul and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Brawn has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Tanagul is trying to keep an underhook but Brawn manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Brawn keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Brawn's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Brawn scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Tanagul is in trouble now - Brawn has advanced to mount!
Brawn controlling his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Brawn raining down shots from the mount!
Brawn landing strikes from the mount.
Brawn controlling from the full mount.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reiner Brawn dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Joe Tanagul's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Brawn throws a nice looking combination but Tanagul bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Tanagul swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Brawn lands a two punch combo.
Reiner Brawn seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Brawn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tanagul's guard.
Brawn is standing up over Tanagul. Tanagul looks to escape but Brawn dives into side control.
Tanagul knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brawn on the ground.

Brawn slows the pace down.
Reiner Brawn has got the better of the ground game so far.
The strikes coming from Brawn are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Brawn staying calm.
Let's hope that Brawn has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brawn in side control lands a decent elbow.
Brawn works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Brawn is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Tanagul's shoulder. That is not cool.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Brawn.

Brawn is working to tighten his grip on Tanagul's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Tanagul has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Brawn is really squeezing tight and eventually Tanagul passes out! Brawn breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Reiner Brawn!
Reiner Brawn seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
