Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Albert Hoffman (ranked 490 p4p, 66 weight class) and Basten Sodergren (ranked 788 p4p, 110 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 26 - 0, fighting out of London, Albert Hoffman !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Basten Sodergren!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crunch! Sodergren slams his shin into Hoffman 's torso.
Hoffman uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sodergren.
Hoffman goes for a double leg but Sodergren avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sodergren continues to drive forward.
Hoffman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sodergren swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sodergren connects with a nice looking jab.
Hoffman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Basten Sodergren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoffman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sodergren sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hoffman somewhat.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sodergren! But no joy.
Sodergren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hoffman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sodergren fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Hoffman is out of range.
Sodergren moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Hoffman moves out of range of the strikes.
Hoffman feinted with a counter takedown.
Hoffman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sodergren as he jumps to the side.

Sodergren lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Hoffman dives in and scores a takedown into Sodergren's guard.
Hoffman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sodergren swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sodergren throws a solid leg kick but Hoffman takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Sodergren.

Sodergren tries to clinch up but Hoffman circles away and keeps his distance.
Sodergren lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Sodergren stuffs the takedown attempt from Hoffman . Hoffman gets slowly back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sodergren fakes the leg kick and cracks Hoffman in the body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sodergren, right into the meat.

Sodergren throws a quick inside leg kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Sodergren lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hoffman has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hoffman and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Hoffman shoots in looking for a takedown. Sodergren tries to sprawl out of it but Hoffman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sodergren manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sodergren now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Hoffman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sodergren pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Hoffman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Sodergren lands with a short shot to the head.

Sodergren is pressed up against the cage. Hoffman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sodergren down to the mat. Sodergren avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Sodergren throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sodergren lands a glancing blow to the side of Hoffman 's head.
Basten Sodergren is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hoffman has closed the distance and engaged Sodergren in a clinch.
Hoffman is working for takedown but Sodergren is calmly controlling the position for now.
Sodergren lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Sodergren breaks from the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sodergren throws the left hand but Hoffman avoids the punch easily.

letting Sodergren counter with a right hand.
Sodergren throws a body shot but no joy.
Sodergren misses with a looping left.
Hoffman drops down looking for a counter takedown but Sodergren sprawls and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Basten Sodergren dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hoffman dives in and grabs Sodergren's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sodergren pushes down on Hoffman 's head and hops out.
A nice side step and Sodergren releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Sodergren misses with a straight left.
Sodergren jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sodergren misses with a low kick.
Sodergren scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Sodergren throws a body punch but Hoffman moves out of range.
Sodergren keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Sodergren is looking for a sweep. Hoffman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sodergren is trying to stand up here but Hoffman is controlling him well.
Hoffman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Sodergren is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Sodergren wants to get back to his feet but Hoffman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Sodergren lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Hoffman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sodergren doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sodergren manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hoffman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sodergren defends it easily.

Sodergren gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Hoffman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sodergren just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hoffman gets control of Sodergren's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hoffman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sodergren must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hoffman attempts a counter takedown but Sodergren avoids it well and moves away.

Sodergren lands a big head kick that sends Hoffman tumbling to the mat! Sodergren takes a step backwards and waves Hoffman back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Sodergren drops Hoffman with a straight right hand, right on the button! Sodergren follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
