Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trent Cotchin (ranked 4158 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayde West (ranked 3147 p4p, 0 weight class). West comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sober kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotchin darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
West shoots in for a double leg but Cotchin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
West uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Cotchin.
Cotchin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
West looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cotchin jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Trent Cotchin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

West chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cotchin can pounce on him.

We've been told by Cotchin's head coaches at Returning Pride that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Good leg kick by Cotchin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cotchin, as that shot connected.
Cotchin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

West dives in and grabs Cotchin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cotchin pushes down on West's head and hops out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

West shoots in but no luck this time.
A little feinted left hand from Cotchin on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Cotchin feints and then cracks West's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow West down.

Cotchin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cotchin wants it to stay on the feet.

West shoots for a takedown but Cotchin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

West takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cotchin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
West drops his hands momentarily and Cotchin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cotchin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
