PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Raoul Clavette (ranked 810 p4p, 89 weight class) and Gary Tonon (ranked 893 p4p, 102 weight class). Tonon has chosen What About Now as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tonon forces Clavette back against the cage and clinches.
Clavette fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Tonon pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Clavette controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Tonon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Clavette's guard.

Clavette has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tonon is working away from the top position though.

Gary Tonon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That was a close round but I would say that Raoul Clavette will probably get the nod.

Tonon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Tonon jumps guard and drags Clavette to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Clavette drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tonon manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Clavette has Tonon in his guard.

Clavette is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tonon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clavette swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Clavette has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tonon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Clavette manages to work his way to half guard, despite Tonon's best efforts.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tonon is keen to just control but Clavette is a slippery customer.
Tonon looks to land a strike but Clavette avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Tonon fails with the takedown.
Tonon tries to bum rush Clavette with a series of wild strikes but Clavette uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Clavette fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tonon dives in and grabs Clavette's left leg, looking for a takedown. Clavette pushes down on Tonon's head and hops out.

Clavette closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tonon did well to prevent Clavette getting side control.

Clavette working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Tonon is doing well to control the position and prevent Clavette from advancing to side control.

Clavette maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Tonon could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Clavette has cracked it and Tonon is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Clavette!
