Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wilford Gregory (ranked 23331 p4p, 0 weight class) and New Knee (ranked 5520 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wilford Gregory!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, New Knee!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Francis DeMontford and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knee throws a right and a left that Gregory avoids nicely.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Knee.
Gregory fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Knee avoids it really well and circles away.
Knee is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Gregory shoots for a double leg takedown but Knee sprawls well. He's pushed Gregory's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Knee gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Knee wants to break free but Gregory has control.
Knee prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wilford Gregory. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Knee manages to pull guard.
Gregory wants to get up but he can't break Knee's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knee pulls Gregory in to control the position.

Knee is continuing to stall.

Knee looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gregory has picked Knee up and slammed him! Knee can't keep hold of the triangle and Gregory manages to pass to side control!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Knee tries to bench press Gregory off him but Gregory keeps the position.
Gregory scoring with punches and elbows.
Knee is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Gregory is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Knee is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Gregory throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Gregory tries to control but Knee wriggling away.
Gregory could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Knee tries to lock up and control but Gregory gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Knee is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Knee is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Gregory is landing with some decent strikes but Knee is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Knee slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Gregory is trying to control the action in half guard but Knee is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Knee tries to roll over but Gregory keeps him under control.
It looks like Gregory is going to stand back up.

Gregory thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Knee's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Gregory dives in and grabs Knee's left leg, looking for a takedown. Knee pushes down on Gregory's head and hops out.

It looks like Wilford Gregory has been cut.
Knee slaps away a takedown attempt from Gregory, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Knee lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Gregory stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gregory wants it to stay on the feet.
Gregory tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Knee manages to circle out of the way.
Knee leaves Gregory with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wilford Gregory. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gregory shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Knee as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A looping hook to the body misses from Gregory. Knee does a little dance to reset his feet.

Knee moves into range and clinches up with Gregory.
Knee prevents Gregory from breaking the clinch.
Gregory is looking to take this one to the mat.
Knee tries to pull guard but Gregory holds him up against the cage and eventually Knee drops back down to his feet.
Gregory has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Knee after a bit of a struggle.
Knee keeps control of Gregory as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Knee wants to take the fight to the mat but Gregory manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Gregory tries to break the clinch but Knee is controlling the position.
Gregory has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Knee is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Knee is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Knee lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Knee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Knee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gregory is fending him off so far but Knee persists. Nope, Gregory circles away and we're back to standing.

Knee moves into the clinch successfully.

Gregory has picked Knee up - he's going for a ride! Gregory dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Knee manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Gregory keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Knee gets underhooks to prevent Gregory's takedown attempt.
Knee is trying to break the clinch but Gregory has him pressed against the cage.
Knee jumps guard but Gregory stands there with Knee around his waist. Knee gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Gregory wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Knee has him pressed against the cage.
Gregory is trying to pull guard but Knee turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Knee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Good standup being displayed there by Knee as he connects with a hook.
Gregory slaps away a takedown attempt from Knee, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Knee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Knee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gregory fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Knee darts in looking for a takedown but Gregory gets double underhooks and turns Knee into the cage.
Gregory is trying hard to land a takedown here. Knee sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Despite the aggression on Knee's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
New Knee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Knee gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Knee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gregory walks away with a smile on his face. Knee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Knee is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Knee fails with the takedown.
Gregory appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
New Knee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Knee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gregory paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Knee.
It looked like Gregory was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Knee.
New Knee seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gregory slaps away a takedown attempt from Knee, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

New Knee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Wilford Gregory's cut.
That's time! Gregory's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Gregory counters with a shoot takedown. Knee fights it but they end up in guard.

Knee has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gregory has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Wilford Gregory has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of New Knee.
Knee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gregory breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Knee uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gregory.

Knee gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gregory to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Knee looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gregory has picked Knee up and slammed him! Knee can't keep hold of the triangle and Gregory manages to pass to side control!
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Knee. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Knee takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Gregory is looking to take a break and control but Knee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gregory tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Knee is not content to let Gregory control the position.

Gregory stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Gregory is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Gregory drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Knee looking for a sweep. Not yet Knee, not yet.
Knee utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Gregory wants to stand but Knee has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gregory trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Gregory with a flurry of punches that miss.

Knee kicks Gregory off and gets to his feet.
Knee misses with a head kick.
Gregory half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Gregory shoots in for a double leg but Knee sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gregory takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Knee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gregory is fending him off so far but Knee persists. Nope, Gregory circles away and we're back to standing.

Knee tries to clinch

and Gregory counters with a single leg into guard. Knee didn't expect that.

Gregory gets to his feet - Knee follows without any prompting.
Gregory circles away from the clinch attempt

and Gregory counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Knee!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gregory decides to stand back up.
Gregory blocks a head kick by Knee.
Gregory tries to score a power double leg takedown but Knee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gregory somewhat.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wilford Gregory.
I think Gregory has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
