PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Winfred Dillard (ranked 7441 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adrian Steiner (ranked 5641 p4p, 0 weight class). Steiner is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sadeness. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Winfred Dillard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adrian Steiner!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dillard shoots in for a takedown but Steiner shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Steiner shoots in and gets a takedown into Dillard's guard.

Dillard is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Steiner dives into side control.
An elbow from Steiner crashes against the mat.

Steiner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Steiner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steiner wants to control but Dillard is keeping him busy.

Steiner has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Dillard throws a low kick but it's checked well by Steiner.
Steiner feints the counter takedown.
Steiner swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Steiner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Steiner gets through Dillard's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Dillard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Adrian Steiner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Steiner gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Dillard tries to pull guard but Steiner won't allow it.
Dillard blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Steiner takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Steiner works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Steiner is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dillard can't fight it off and eventually Steiner manages to take the fight to the floor. Dillard looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Steiner wants to control from the top but Dillard keeps moving.

Dillard is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Steiner presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dillard tries to throw a body punch but Steiner avoids it by throwing Dillard back against the cage.

Dillard jumps guard but Steiner stands there with Dillard around his waist. Dillard gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Winfred Dillard. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Steiner wants the takedown. Dillard is fighting it off but Steiner persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Dillard's guard against the cage.

Steiner must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dillard looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Steiner puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dillard is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Steiner's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Steiner's back!

Steiner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dillard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Dillard fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Steiner to the ground. Dillard is now in Steiner's guard.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Winfred Dillard.
I think Dillard has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
