Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charley Rowe (ranked 6192 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Gonzalez (ranked 5770 p4p, 0 weight class). Juan Gonzalez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rowe checks a leg kick.

Rowe gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rowe has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Gonzalez is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Rowe lands a right hand.

Rowe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rowe throws a knee to the head but misses.
Rowe wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Rowe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gonzalez.
Juan Gonzalez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rowe throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gonzalez doesn't manage to clinch there - Rowe circles away.

Gonzalez clinches.

Rowe pulls guard successfully.

Rowe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gonzalez defends well.
Rowe could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gonzalez has momentary wrist control but Rowe slips an elbow through the middle.
Gonzalez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rowe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rowe is in close to Gonzalez's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Rowe content to stall in guard here.
Rowe postures up in Gonzalez's guard and throws a big left but Gonzalez blocks it.
Rowe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gonzalez is looking for a triangle here but Rowe uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Rowe cracks Gonzalez with a big right hand but Gonzalez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Rowe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rowe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Rowe is working Gonzalez over with some ground and pound from side control.

Rowe decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Gonzalez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rowe sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Gonzalez throws a right and a left that Rowe avoids nicely.

and Rowe counters by clinching up.
Charley Rowe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Gonzalez.

Rowe ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rowe no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Rowe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gonzalez tries to free his leg and advance position but Rowe is retaining full guard.

Rowe lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Rowe thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rowe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rowe lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Rowe swats away the attempt to clinch by Gonzalez.
Gonzalez checks a low kick from Rowe.
Nice sprawl there from Rowe as Gonzalez shoots in.
Rowe scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Oooooh!!! Gonzalez has knocked Rowe down with a huge combo! Gonzalez steps away and waves a wobbly Rowe back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Charley Rowe has been cut.
Gonzalez goes for a double leg but Rowe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rowe continues to drive forward.
Gonzalez closes the distance and clinches up with Rowe, looking for a takedown. Gonzalez pushes Rowe against the cage but Rowe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rowe half committed to a counter leg kick.
Charley Rowe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Gonzalez.
Gonzalez lands with an uppercut that bounces Rowe off the cage and back into range.

Rowe is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oh Rowe is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gonzalez working the clinch nicely. Rowe is working for position but Gonzalez cracks him with a big knee to the head! Rowe crumples up against the cage and Gonzalez lands two more shots before the ref can save Rowe! This one is all over!
