Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Burton Carr (ranked 5763 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oelton Medeiros (ranked 3689 p4p, 140 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Burton Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oelton Medeiros!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carr clinches.
Carr prevents Medeiros from breaking the clinch.
Carr is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Medeiros is trying to push Carr away but Carr has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Medeiros pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Medeiros feints and as Carr raises his hands in defense, Medeiros changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Carr pushes Medeiros off and scrambles back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Medeiros shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Carr is trying to defend but Medeiros finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Medeiros is trying to get an arm triangle but Carr is defending well.

Carr bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Carr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Medeiros to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Medeiros drops back, looking for a kneebar! Carr looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Carr looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Carr!

Carr looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
A lull in the action here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carr lands a few punches from side control.
Medeiros prevents Carr from improving position.
Carr in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Carr trying to control the action but Medeiros is working from the bottom.
Medeiros tries to buck Carr off but Carr is having none of it.

Medeiros can't do much from the bottom here.

Carr wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Medeiros, who protects the arm well.
Medeiros tries to bench press Carr off him but Carr keeps the position.
Medeiros regains half guard.
Carr winds up and cracks Medeiros with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Carr drops an elbow to the side of Medeiros's head.

Carr stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Medeiros to get to his feet.

Medeiros shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Medeiros was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Medeiros is looking to take a break and control but Carr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
You can see the frustration on Carr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Medeiros moves away from the strike by Carr.
Medeiros feints the counter takedown.
Medeiros wants to clinch up but Carr keeps it at a distance.

Medeiros manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Carr on his heels. He'll look to pass Carr's guard now, I'm sure.

Carr kicks Medeiros off and gets to his feet.

Carr moves into range and clinches up with Medeiros.
Carr jumps guard but Medeiros stands there with Carr around his waist. Carr gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carr won't allow Medeiros to get back to his feet.
Burton Carr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Medeiros has his foot on Carr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carr works his way back into a safe position though.
Carr controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Medeiros wants to sweep but no luck.
Carr working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Medeiros's head.
Carr might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Carr is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Medeiros is breathing heavily.
Carr postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Carr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carr connects with a couple of short punches.
Medeiros wants to stand but Carr is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carr is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Medeiros can do to turn this around?

Carr gets to his feet - Medeiros follows without any prompting.

Carr closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Carr can't find room to land a body shot as Medeiros controls the action.

Carr has hold of one of Medeiros's legs. Medeiros is fighting the takedown attempt but Carr gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Carr stays in close to Medeiros's body and controls the position.
Carr chips away with some ground and pound.
Medeiros trying to control the position.
Carr postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Medeiros is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carr defends well.

Carr cracks Medeiros with a solid left hand.
Carr working some strikes from top position.
Carr distracts Medeiros with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Medeiros looking for a sweep. Not yet Medeiros, not yet.
Carr is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Carr's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Medeiros looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Carr looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Carr stands up and waves to Medeiros to follow him.

Medeiros feints and as Carr raises his hands in defense, Medeiros changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Carr manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Carr tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Medeiros smiles and moves away.

Medeiros closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Carr did well to prevent Medeiros getting side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burton Carr dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Carr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Medeiros throws an elbow but it misses.

Carr has managed to clinch.
Medeiros lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Carr or not.

Medeiros drops Carr with a big knee straight up the middle! Carr is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!


It looks like Burton Carr has been cut.
Carr pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Medeiros looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Medeiros closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Carr bucks up and tries to throw Medeiros off but instead Medeiros has got his back!


Carr is rocked!

Oh Carr is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Medeiros is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Medeiros cracks Carr with a big right hand from the back mount! Carr immediately covers up and the referee dives in to save him under a barrage of more strikes! Medeiros takes this one by TKO!
