PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Moore (ranked 5752 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Sleeman (ranked 5750 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cole Moore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Sleeman!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sleeman takes the fight into the clinch.

Sleeman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sleeman fails with the takedown.
Moore looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

Sleeman clinches with his opponent.
Moore's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Sleeman stalling in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sleeman pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moore trying to control the position from guard on top but Sleeman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Moore is looking to stand up but Sleeman won't let him.
Moore has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Moore wants to control from the top but Sleeman keeps moving.
Sleeman looking for a sweep. Not yet Sleeman, not yet.

Sleeman is working an open guard so Moore takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sleeman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Moore as he avoids it easily.
Sleeman has his takedown stuffed
and Moore counters with a left and a right that stings Sleeman.
Cole Moore has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Sleeman.

Sleeman gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Sleeman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moore tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sleeman swivels and escapes.
Horrible takedown attempt by Moore or perhaps it was just good defense by Sleeman, which made it look bad.
Moore really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sleeman misses with a looping left.
Moore looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Sleeman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Moore as he jumps to the side.

Sleeman drives through and clinches with Moore against the cage.
Moore jumps guard but Sleeman stands there with Moore around his waist. Moore gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moore changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sleeman fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sleeman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Moore swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Moore throws a counter high kick but Sleeman was just alert enough to avoid it.
Sleeman slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Sleeman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Moore counters with a stiff right hand.
Moore takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Moore tries to break the clinch but Sleeman is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sleeman breaks from the clinch.
Moore shoots in looking for a takedown. Sleeman tries to sprawl out of it but Moore keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sleeman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sleeman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sleeman turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Sleeman dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Sleeman moves into range and clinches up with Moore.
Moore jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sleeman walks away with a smile on his face. Moore gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Sleeman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Moore counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sleeman's knee momentarily.
Sleeman has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Sleeman there as he acknowledges the shot.
Sleeman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Sleeman rushes Moore and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sleeman jumps guard and drags Moore to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Moore wants to stand but Sleeman is controlling his posture from full guard.
Moore is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sleeman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Moore works over Sleeman with some ground and pound from guard.

Sleeman has a closed guard, preventing Moore from standing up.
Moore won't allow Sleeman to sweep him here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sleeman wants to sweep here but Moore controlling him for the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Moore displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sleeman.

Sleeman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Moore avoids it really well and circles away.

and Moore counters with a body kick that stops Sleeman in his tracks momentarily.

Sleeman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moore tries to avoid it but Sleeman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moore to the ground. Moore escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Tony Sleeman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sleeman is breathing heavily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Sleeman.
Sleeman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Moore counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sleeman enables Moore to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sleeman manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sleeman wriggles free and stands up.
Sleeman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sleeman throws a wild body kick that Moore sees coming a mile off.

Moore looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Moore shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sleeman pinned against the cage. Sleeman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Sleeman keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cole Moore will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

and Moore counters with a head kick.
Sleeman throws a head kick but Moore moves out of range.
Moore is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Moore gets to his feet. Sleeman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Crunch! Moore slams his shin into Sleeman's torso.

Cole Moore showed his dominance in that final round.
