Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Sunchez (ranked 1755 p4p, 213 weight class) and Rei Kolton (ranked 1451 p4p, 184 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alex Sunchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rei Kolton!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kolton connects with the punch.
Sunchez moves out of range as Kolton strikes.
Kolton leaves Sunchez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sunchez slips under a jab.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sunchez is defended easily by Kolton.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sunchez takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Sunchez has his takedown stuffed
and Kolton counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Kolton connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sunchez momentarily.
Kolton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sunchez was well out of range. Poor timing from Kolton.

Sunchez appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

and Sunchez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sunchez wants to work for an arm triangle but Kolton is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kolton keeps control of the position for the meantime.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kolton can do anything to dispel that myth.

Still in half guard, Sunchez seems content to control.

Kolton is trying to control but Sunchez passes into side control!

Sunchez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Kolton takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kolton parries the strikes from Sunchez easily there. Sunchez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kolton to escape.

Kolton throws an overhand right that lands on Sunchez's shoulder, as Sunchez tries to avoid the shot.
Sunchez feinted with a counter takedown.
Nice defenses there by Sunchez.
Sunchez dives in for a single leg takedown but Kolton sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Sunchez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kolton sprawls well initially but Sunchez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kolton is looking to improve his position.
Sunchez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kolton!

Sunchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sunchez has hold of Kolton's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kolton manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Sunchez is landing with some decent strikes but Kolton is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kolton can't escape the position.
Sunchez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Kolton tries to lock up and control but Sunchez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Sunchez working for a guillotine from mount but Kolton is in no mood to give up.
Alex Sunchez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sunchez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kolton to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kolton shrugs it off.
Sunchez lands a couple of good shots and Kolton has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Kolton tries to escape but Sunchez has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Sunchez punches Kolton on the ear.
Sunchez has Kolton flattened out and is raining down punches.
Sunchez has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Kolton.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sunchez is landing with strikes. Kolton can't take much more of this.

Sunchez is looking to finish with some ground and pound!
Kolton is still in real trouble! Can Sunchez finish him?

Kolton covers up after that shot from Sunchez.
Kolton is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Sunchez off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Sunchez is persistently looking for the submission but Kolton is defending it well.
Sunchez scoring with big shots to the body. Kolton is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Kolton was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.
