PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lucien Holt (ranked 25255 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gianfranco Perez (ranked 5763 p4p, 0 weight class). Gianfranco Perez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Holt tries to keep at a distance but Perez has taken the fight into the clinch.
Perez works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Perez is pressed up against the cage. Holt has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Perez down to the mat. Perez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Holt gets caught napping as Perez dives in and scores a takedown. Holt manages to retain guard.

Perez gets to his feet. Holt looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Holt is looking to clinch.
Perez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Holt rushes Perez and presses him up against the cage.

Perez is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Holt can't fight it off and eventually Perez manages to take the fight to the floor. Holt looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Perez lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Holt is rocked!
Perez is in close to Holt's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Oh Holt is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Perez loads up on a big left hand. Holt felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Perez looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Holt can't hide his disappointment, as Perez celebrates the victory.
