The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw throws the left hand but Patterson avoids the punch easily.

Shaw moves into the clinch.
Patterson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Shaw fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Shaw. Those never looked like landing.
Patterson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shaw pinned against the cage. Shaw gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Shaw closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patterson is looking to escape.
