The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice combo by Alves! Oh, that's hurt him - Silva falls to the canvas and Alves follows him into side control.
It looks like Anderson Silva has been cut.
The ground and pound from Alves seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Silva is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Alves is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard.
Silva wants to control but Alves postures up.
Silva throws Alves to one side and escapes!

Alves doesn't manage to clinch there - Silva circles away.
Silva misses with a kick to the body.

Silva looks to land a combination but Alves avoids it well.
Alves throws a leg kick but Silva sees it coming and moves out of range.

Alves throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Silva counters with a nice kick to the body.
Silva lands a nice looking kick to the body. Alves takes a step back to recover.
Alves looks gassed!
A head kick from Silva lands but Alves takes it in his stride.
Thiago Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alves bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Silva comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Alves falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Alves was out before he hit the floor!
