The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a combination
and Hays counters with a nice uppercut.
Johnson clinches with his opponent.
Hays content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hays defends it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hays can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Johnson controls the pace.

Hays sneaks out the side door and pushes Johnson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Hays counters with a left and a right that stings Johnson.
Hays swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Hays seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Hays is trying hard to land a takedown here. Johnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Hays is working an open guard so Johnson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Hays counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Johnson has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Hays is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Hays is trying to drag Johnson to the mat but Johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Hays is stalling here.
Johnson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Hays has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Johnson is on him like a limpet, forcing Hays back against the cage.
Johnson tightens his grip and picks Hays up, before dumping him to the ground. Hays manages to land in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hays is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson with a flurry of punches that miss.
Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Hays gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hays drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Johnson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hays has Johnson in his guard.
Johnson is looking to advance position but Hays has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dennis Hays dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Johnson works over Hays's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Dennis Hays has been cut.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Johnson.
Hays looking for a sweep but Johnson has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Johnson cracks Hays with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
