Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Steve Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Padraig Pearse (ranked 24765 p4p, 634 weight class). Padraig Pearse is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Steve Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Padraig Pearse!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steve Jr dips to his left and cracks Pearse with an uppercut!
Pearse shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Steve Jr pinned against the cage. Steve Jr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Steve Jr cracks Pearse with a big right hand and Pearse goes down!


Pearse is rocked!


It looks like Padraig Pearse has been cut.
Steve Jr wants to control from the top but Pearse keeps moving.
Pearse keeping full guard, as Steve Jr tries to pass.
Pearse being controlled here, momentarily.
Pearse is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Steve Jr tries to free his leg and advance position but Pearse is retaining full guard.
Steve Jr controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pearse keeping moving, preventing Steve Jr from controlling successfully.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Steve Jr tests Pearse's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Pearse shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Steve Jr pinned against the cage. Steve Jr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Padraig Pearse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pearse shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Steve Jr as he avoids it easily.
It looked like Steve Jr was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Pearse.
Jay Steve Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Padraig Pearse.

Steve Jr steps into range and cracks Pearse with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Pearse flops backwards and Steve Jr dives into his guard looking to finish!
Pearse is still in real trouble! Can Steve Jr finish him?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pearse managing to control the position.
Pearse keeping moving, preventing Steve Jr from controlling successfully.
Steve Jr looking to sit in guard and control but Pearse gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pearse seems to have recovered his senses.
Pearse works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Steve Jr is looking to control Pearse's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Steve Jr avoid being mounted?
Pearse looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Pearse thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Steve Jr's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pearse wants to take a breather but Steve Jr is having none of it.
Steve Jr controlling the position for now.
Steve Jr is trying to control but can't.
Steve Jr moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Pearse wants to control from the top but Steve Jr keeps moving.
Pearse is working Steve Jr over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Pearse trying to control the position from guard on top but Steve Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steve Jr is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pearse with a nice head shot there.
Pearse landing with the ground and pound.
Pearse throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Steve Jr might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pearse lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Steve Jr controls Pearse momentarily but Pearse frees himself.
Pearse scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Steve Jr is working an open guard so Pearse takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Pearse tries to score a power double leg takedown but Steve Jr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pearse somewhat.
A quick step to the side and Steve Jr tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Steve Jr dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Padraig Pearse's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Steve Jr lands a jab to the nose.
Steve Jr circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pearse has his takedown stuffed
and Steve Jr counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Steve Jr digs a good hook to Pearse's body.
Pearse looks to clinch

and Steve Jr counters with a left hand that sends Pearse to the canvas!
Steve Jr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Steve Jr trying to control but Pearse is working from the bottom.
Pearse wants to get back to his feet but Steve Jr is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Steve Jr looking to sit in guard and control but Pearse gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pearse throws a big elbow that misses.
Pearse showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Pearse has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Pearse postures up in Steve Jr's guard and throws a big left but Steve Jr blocks it.
Steve Jr keeping moving, preventing Pearse from controlling successfully.
Pearse stopping the sweep attempt from Steve Jr.
Pearse wants to control from the top but Steve Jr keeps moving.
Steve Jr wants to stand up but Pearse is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pearse in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Steve Jr trying to keep a closed guard but Pearse is proving a slippery customer.
Pearse trying to control but Steve Jr is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Steve Jr connects with a combination that backs up Pearse into the cage. Steve Jr lands a flurry of punches that gets past Pearse's guard. Pearse is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Steve Jr bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Steve Jr!
A very excited looking Jay Steve Jr made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
